just thinking....
i tried writing this last night at 11:45 pm, but for some reason it wasn't working. so instead of forgetting about it, i wrote it elsewhere and am now copying and pasting it here to share what i wanted to share last night......
today was lisa’s graduation and it was really nice. although, the weather was rather muggy and a little hot, but i’d say it was a good day. i didn't cry even though i didn't really think i would. however, it was kind of a wake up call for me. first my sister, who doesn't seem incredibly older than me (since it is only 13 months anyways), graduates. next year ruth and jeremy graduate and a bunch of others that i went to high school with--nikki, kelsey, megan... the following year it’s my turn, along with heather and abigail and well, you get the picture. i guess i’m seeing how fast life moves and wondering what i’m doing with my own life. do my goals really matter in eternity? do i really live my life in a way that demonstrates that i’m seeking to store up treasures in heaven, not on this earth? taking that one step further, do i think the answers to all those questions is a hearty “yes!” and then think i’m better than others?
tonight we watched the new version of peter pan. i know this will sound slightly lame, but it too added to what was already going on in my head. even from a little kid movie it struck me that i had the same fear as peter pan--growing up. and what for? really, life moves on and you live and learn. especially so since i know that Romans 8:28 reminds me that the Lord works everything together for good to those who love Him. i should have nothing to fear. then 1 Corinthians 10:13, which i constantly remind myself, "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” over and over again it seems to come down to trusting in the Lord.
in writing a song keeps echoing in my head. part of it says “Jesus, You’re all this heart is living for” and i wonder if i can honestly sing that song.
lately i’ve been reading through Matthew for my devotions. reading through the miracles Jesus performed while He was on this earth has reminded me how great a God we have. i certainly can’t express that in words, but i wish i could share the joy inside me right now at knowing that i will be with Him for all of eternity...... thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. what a privilege to be able to have a taste of that in prayer and reading Scripture and worshipping the Lord in song...... simply amazing...
