the date

tonight was probably the best "first date" experience i could have had. matt is an awesome guy and i had a great time getting to know him. he was very gentlemanly as he opened doors, pulled out chairs, and paid for dinner and such. he took me to an italian restaurant called sisley and then to java and jazz for "coffee"...only i had hot chocolate and he had tea. yeah, that was pretty much it. i'm glad we had a good time and it wasn't awkward. i also got to eat non-caf food, which is always nice, especially on the weekends.

so i learned tonight that "dates" don't have to be scary and they don't necessarily have to mean anything more than friends. although, i'm not sure what he's thinking, it was truly a blessing getting to know my brother in Christ and learning how the Lord has worked in his life. i'm also learning how to be myself in new and different (potentially awkward) situations. and you know what? it's a lot easier not worrying about what other people think of me. most people aren't as sure of themselves as they pretend to be. people question themselves just like i do. they think they say stupid things and act like nerds just like me... although maybe not to the same extent. haha... God is so gracious. i love learning about people and getting a better appreciation for the Lord's work in the lives of others.

oddly enough, i never realized how self-centered i am and tonight and this semester have proven to be quite educational in that regard. it's such a strange experience trying to put yourself in another person's shoes, yet still clearly see the Lord working.

this is kind of a random add on to my date experience... but this week in chapel was a series called "reflections" where three of the bible faculty spoke on how the Lord has worked in their lives since they've been at master's. although i didn't hear the monday one, i heard it was good, and i know that wednesday and friday impacted me a lot. it was like taking some of the wisest most godly men you know and giving them a microphone and then saying "tell us what the Lord has taught you throughout your life." seriously amazing just learning from men who have talked the talk and walked the walk of Christianity for so many years. i love learning!

well, i'm gonna go be social... have a wonderful sunday! praise the Lord for His amazing grace! He is SO GOOD!!!
